Powering Up

Introduction

The Vertex One can be powered on and off using the multifunctional power button. This section explains the functionality of this power button.

Turning On

Press and hold the power button for two seconds until you hear a beeping sound followed by the status indication LEDs turning on. The Vertex One will now automatically start both its real-time MCU (running the flight controller) and the onboard computing module.

Shutting down

The Vertex One can be shut down by pressing and holding the power button for 2 seconds and releasing. After releasing, the shutdown process will start, which is indicated by the status indication LEDs showing a blue-colored animation. This will shut down both its real-time MCU (running the flight controller) and the onboard computing module in a safe way to prevent data corruption.

The shutdown procedure will take from several seconds up to a maximum of 15 seconds. After all status indication LEDs are turned off, the shutdown sequence is finished and the PowerPack can be safely disconnected from the Vertex One.

Warning

Removing the PowerPack without performing the shut down first can result in data corruption or loss.

Force Shutdown

Only in situations where the Vertex One is not responding to any input, a force shutdown is recommended. This can be done by pressing and holding the power button for 10 seconds.

Turning On When USB-Powered

The Vertex One can be powered on via USB alone, without the PowerPack, for device management purposes (i.e., not for flying). This is done by using Cerebra Lab to connect to the real-time MCU.
