Vertex RealSense Add-on
What is the RealSense Add-on?
The Vertex RealSense Add-on is a specialized camera module that you can attach to your Vertex One drone. This camera system provides both regular color video (like a normal camera) and depth information (how far away objects are). This makes it a perfect starting point to develop applications like:
- 3D mapping - Creating detailed maps of buildings, terrain, or objects
- Obstacle detection - Helping the drone understand what's around it
- Inspection tasks - Getting detailed visual and dimensional data of structures
- Research and development - Collecting rich data for analysis
- Live streaming - Live camera feed used as an FPV camera
The add-on uses Intel's RealSense technology, which is widely used in robotics and computer vision applications.
Key Features
Easy Installation
The add-on connects to your Vertex One using a quick swap interface - a special interface on the front of the drone that allows you to easily attach and remove payloads without tools.
Adjustable Camera Angle
You can position the camera at different angles to suit your mission:
- 0° - Camera points straight ahead (horizontal)
- -90° - Camera points straight down
- Range: Adjustable from 10° upward to -100° downward
Two Types of Camera Data
RGB Camera
Can be used for:
- High-quality color video for live viewing
- Perfect for pilot awareness and recording missions
- Can be viewed in real-time during flight
Distance Sensing
Can be used for:
- Measures how far away objects are from the camera
- Creates a "depth map" showing the 3D structure of the environment
- Useful for automated navigation and 3D reconstruction
